Should an AI agent be allowed to perform actions automatically or only recommend them?
Discussion
The answer depends on the business impact, risk, and reversibility of the action. Low-risk activities such as classification, information retrieval, or drafting a response may be suitable for greater automation, while payments, record deletion, permission changes, or external communications may require human approval. A well-designed agent should have clearly defined permissions, validation rules, audit logging, and escalation paths. Students and working professionals should learn to distinguish between an agent that provides information and one that can execute consequential business operations. Where would you draw the boundary between recommendation and autonomous execution?
